With the rise of preservatives in our foods and the general deterioration of our nutritional value, many of us are turning to natural food products. It seems that as we eat more processed food, we crave those less healthy processed foods for a "quick fix". But is it really quick and easy? Are we fooling ourselves or just getting the most convenient food possible? There are many benefits to natural food products, but before I get into them, I want to clear something up - the term "natural" is only used because the food has not been altered in any way..

I think what bothers me most is when I see a product labeled as natural food, but when you remove the unnatural components, it turns out to be processed. There is a big difference between what is natural food and what is simply food prepared differently. Take, for example, the balsamic vinegar that is often found in Italian foods. This is a naturally occurring substance found in many things from meat to seafood. When this is processed and added to a food product, it is no longer natural, even though the ingredients may still appear to be natural.

The truth about this product is that there are thousands of natural food products on the market today. They can be anything from fresh vegetables to fruits, nuts, whole grains to spices. Many people have a hard time believing that something is natural food products unless it is an extract from a plant or animal. And even then, how is the integrity of the processing affected? Have the chemicals used to extend the shelf life of the product been stripped away?

This is why I always tell my clients to read the label of ingredients. Most natural food products will list the actual ingredients as they appear on the product. If there is a naturally occurring compound included, it will usually be listed in part or in full. (Most companies are required by law to disclose the source of any compound included in their natural food products.)

Many natural food companies go through the trouble of using only the healthiest and cleanest plants and animals and then mix the ingredients with some inexpensive filler. How much of the original natural ingredient is left usually depends on the way the company manufactures the product. Products made from flax seeds, for example, usually contain at least some oil extracted from the seeds. Some companies even use "essential oils" which are concentrated plant fragrances to help mask the flavor and scent of the natural food product.

One good way to protect yourself and your family from artificial and man-made chemicals is to make your own natural food products. There are many recipes out there that allow you to create some wonderful natural foods, including a variety of dairy and egg products, and fruits, vegetables, meats and snacks. You can also make your own dehydrated or freeze dried goods if you are inclined. The list of things that are natural is ever expanding and you just need to know what and where to look for. If you probably want to get more enlightened on this topic, then click on this related post: https://www.encyclopedia.com/plants-and-animals/plants/plants/cassava.
